The Underwater Archaeological Society of Chicago (UASC) is a volunteer, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the study and preservation of Illinois' ship-wrecks and other underwater cultural resources.

Meetings
UASC meets the last Wednesday of every month except December on the 6th floor of the Helix building, 310 S. Racine at Jackson. Doors open at 6:30 and the meeting starts at 7:00. Free parking is available behind the building.

Our Underwater Heritage
Disasters on the Lakes were all too common. There are probably no equal areas of commercial waterways that, if drained, would reveal as many lost vessels as would the Great Lakes. So, return with us via these web pages and links to a day when ships moved by white canvas, hemp rope and brute force, evolving to steam fueled by wood and coal, to the ships of today.
