(UW) Archaeology Groups
( Underwater ) Archaeology Groups
The following groups share similar interests and activities to UASC:
Wisconsin Underwater Archaeology Association
WUAA fully supports the preservation of our archaeological heritage, and works with state agencies, various organizations, and the general public to promote active stewardship and protection of archaeological sites. WUAA's semi-annual meetings (spring and fall) are held around the state, and incorporate a training workshop.
Wisconsin Historical Society
Leave the modern world behind, and visit Wisconsin when schooners and steamers ruled the Great Lakes. By studying shipwrecks, one develops an appreciation for the critical role these vessels played in the development of the region and a respect for the men and women that worked the lakes. There is no other way to get so close to history.
Michigan Shipwreck Research Associates
Michigan Shipwreck Research Associates is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, whose mission is to preserve and promote Michigan's submerged maritime history. The organization's work includes research and documentation of submerged cultural resources and the creation of educational programs and materials. MSRA hosts an annual public symposium, maintains this website and produces newsletters, documentary films, informative articles, books and museum exhibits, and makes presentations to youth and adult based organizations.
Great Lakes Shipwreck Research Foundation
A Wisconsin 501 (C)(3) corporation organized for the purpose of furthering public awareness of our Great Lakes marine heritage through education and research.
Bay Area Divers, Sandusky OH
Bay Area Divers, Inc., formed in November of 1983, is a club for scuba divers that meets once a month (except peak dive season) to plan dive trips, social activities, current events, and just have fun! We also put on the annual Shipwreck and Scuba Conference held each November in Sandusky, Ohio.
Nautical Archaeology Society at Northwestern Michigan College
The NAS International Training Program at Northwestern Michigan College is open to anybody who is interested in learning more about maritime and underwater archaeology. Internationally recognised it provides students the knowledge and skills to participate in in projects around the world. With a modular structure and a choice of specialist courses the program offers students the opportunity to develop both basic and advanced skills
